Kurt Patrick Heumann, age 59, died Friday March 24, 2023 in Columbus, Georgia. Kurt was born on April 14, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Donald and Shirley Heumann becoming the beloved baby brother to Donald Oscar Heumann, Jr. “Cricket” and Donna Heumann Flandry. He attended De La Salle High School and went on to graduate from Loyola University with a dual major in acting and communications. One of the highlights of his education was attending a summer course in Innsbrook, Austria taught by Steven Ambrose. He also studied at the Greer Garson School of Acting in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
From a very young age, Kurt acquired a profound love, interest, and respect for all animals, particularly horses. He and his partner of 23 years, Frederick "Fritz" Suchke, resided in the bywater in New Orleans, Louisiana until Hurricane Katrina. Following the storm, Kurt and Fritz moved to North Covington, Louisiana and acquired a farm that was perfectly suited for their desire to breed thoroughbred horses.
Kurt lived life to the fullest. With a flare for the dramatic, he was often the life of the party with his quick wit and jovial antics. He always found a reason to celebrate; be it cooking a meal for friends, enjoying a day at the races, singing along to a great band, celebrating countless weddings and functions for family and friends… if Kurt was there, it was sure to be a memorable occasion!
Kurt is survived by his aforementioned partner, Fritz; his sister, Donna and her husband, Frederick Charles Flandry; his sister-in-law, Ann Trombatore Heumann; his nieces, nephew and their spouses and children; and countless friends and loved ones who were blessed to know Kurt.
The light of a funny, intelligent, talented and kind-hearted spirit was taken from our lives too early. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Orleans Mission and the ASPCA.
