Kenneth Warren Widener Jr. went to be with the Lord on the evening of December 23, 2015. He passed peacefully while surrounded by loving family members.
A memorial service will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
He was born on March 24, 1954 in Augusta, GA son of Marjorie Murray Widener of Columbus, GA and the late Kenneth Warren Widener, Sr. and grew up in Columbus, GA attending Hardaway High School where he became an outstanding athlete in baseball and football being voted all Bi-City in football. He later attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where he graduated receiving an Associate's degree in Divinity. He started his own construction company before later being employed by the BMW automobile manufacturing plant in Greenville, SC where he spent most of his career as an Engineer who often traveled back and forth between America and Germany. Warren was a quiet, sensitive man who deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and family. He personified Proverbs 27:2 "Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips." Until that great day when we will see him again, he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Other than his mother, he is survived by his children, Anna and husband, Jason Bunch, and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bunch and Luke Bunch of Simpsonville, SC, Daniel and wife, Rebecca Widener, of Marietta, GA, Elizabeth and husband, Justin Foster, and grandchild, Haylee of Simpsonville, SC, Sarah Widener of Mauldin, SC, Derek Widener of Simpsonville, SC. Also, his sisters, Gwen Freiberg of Ft Walton Beach, FL, Beverly and husband, Kenneth Pike of Valley, AL, and his brother, Murray and wife, Julie Widener of Columbus, GA, as well as many nephews and nieces.
