Kenneth Eugene White, 81, of Midland, GA passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 21, 2013 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church with Dr. Geoffrey A. Hammond and Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. A private interment will be held for the family at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. 31907.
Mr. White was born December 9, 1931 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Kenneth E. White, Sr. and Vivian Moore White. He graduated from Columbus High School and Auburn University. Mr. White was a faithful member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church and their Sojourners Sunday School Class. He was a member of Columbus Country Club, Big Eddy Club and Green Island Country Club. He served as a past director of South Columbus Boy's Club and was a past president of the Columbus Board of Realtors.
Mr. White was in the real estate, contractor and land development business for over fifty years. He began his passion for tennis at the age of thirteen. While playing tennis for Columbus High School, he won the State Doubles Championship and then played on the Auburn Univeristy team. Kenneth continued playing competitive tennis throughout his lifetime, winning the 2010 Super Senior Combo Georgia State Championship.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 21 years, Helen Walters White of Midland, GA; sons, Kenneth E. White, III (Stacey), William H. White (Amy), Stephen C. White (Amy); stepson, Chris McIlvaine (Stephanie); five granddaughters, Elizabeth White, Katherine White, Abby White, Lilly White and Emma Lee White; and four grandsons; Ross White, Houston White, Will McIlvaine and Sam McIlvaine.
Flowers will be accepted and appreciated, however, those so desiring may make memorial donations to the John B. Amos Cancer Center, 1831 5th Avenue, Columbus, GA 31901 or the Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
