Kenneth H. Donaldson, 81, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 with his wife of 40 years by his side at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
He was born to the late Dan Howard Donaldson and Lillie Myrtle Ware Donaldson on March 27, 1940, in Fairfield, AL. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Donaldson, two sons, Ken Donaldson and Tim Donaldson; three sisters, Kay Hutto, Nancy Williams, Gwen Hester; and one step son, Billy Catrett.
Ken served in the US Army from 1958 to 1961. He had a long railroad career beginning with Seaboard Coast Railroad Lines and ending with CSX Railroad Lines. After his career with the railroad, he worked as a long distance truck driver across the US. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and working outdoors.
Ken and his wife, Sue, enjoyed their travels. One trip took them to New York State then returned, traveling down the east coast. They also traveled to Montana to visit Sue’s son Billy, then spent three weeks touring the west. Being a fisherman, one of Ken’s special trips was to the Florida Keys. But their favorite place was at their cabin in the North Georgia Mountains at Young Harris, where they made countless memories over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Anglin Donaldson of Columbus, GA; two sons, Jeff Donaldson (Susan), Terry Donaldson (Lynn); daughter, Judy Jackson (Wayne); three sisters, Cherry Tanner, Debbie Stephens, Donna Murphee; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three step children, Ricky Catrett, Lynn Davis (Spence), and Sandra Catrett.
