Kay Nell Sowell, 76, of Phenix City died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL with Rev. Sharon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 till 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sowell was born March 3, 1934 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late Jessie Mitchell Whittle and Marion Nell Harden Whittle Uliaszek. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Phenix City. She volunteered with the Cobb Hospital and St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Ft. Mitchell and Seale Preservation Society.
Survivors include her husband Morgan C. Sowell of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Sharman Hopkins (Danny) of Phenix City, AL; son, Timothy Sowell (Terry) of Deatsville, AL; four grandchildren, Heather Pierce, Desiree Kennison, Arron Sowell and Brent Sowell; seven great grandchildren, William Duffield, David Pierce, Morgan Pierce, MacKenzie Kennison, Emily Kennison, Leah Sowell and Katie Sowell; sisters, Lyndal Perry (Rick) of Columbus, GA and Judy Scarborough (Melvin) of Phenix City, AL and several nieces and nephews.
