Kathryn Glass Hunt, 90, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2011 at St. Luke United Methodist Church 1104 2nd Ave. Columbus, GA 31901 with Dr. Hal Brady and Reverend Helen Berenthien officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers; her grandsons, Dan Kosobucki, Jonathan H. Haralson and William L. Hunt, IV, and great grandsons, Payne Kosobucki, Noah Kosobucki, Zeb Kosobucki, Hunt Haralson, and Kite Haralson. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentain Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Hunt was born April 16, 1921 in Selma, AL daughter of the late Willie Albert Glass and Katie Bradford Glass. She lived in Linden, AL. She married William Lindsey Hunt, Jr. of Thomaston, AL in 1943 and they lived in Mobile and Selma until 1959 when they moved to Columbus. She taught school in Selma, AL and at Clubview Elementary for 21 years until retirement in 1980.
She graduated from Alabama College for Women in Montevallo, AL (University of Montevallo) in 1943. She received her Master's Degree from Georgia State.
Mrs. Hunt was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was a member of the William Henry Shaw Sunday School Class and St. Luke United Methodist Women Circle #2, past chairman, Administrative Board. She was a member of the George Walton Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, Muscogee Educators Association GEA and NEA, and was Past President of the Muscogee Retired Teachers Association.
She initiated a Neighborhood Watch system in Hilton Heights area, was Clerk at Clubview voting precinct, life member of the Medical Center Auxiliary where she served as President for over two years, volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of West Georgia, Callaway Gardens Sibley Center and Day Butterfly Center, and also volunteered in the Columbus Olympic office.
She and her late husband, Billy, served Meals on Wheels and for many years on Thanksgiving Day they dressed up like pilgrims to deliver meals which was a treat for the home bound people. She helped organize The Golden Girls, an investment club. She was a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club, The Columbus Country Club, the Third Friday Bridge Club, The Executive Club and the Columbus Museum, The Columbus Symphony Women's Association, the Columbus Historical Society, and Columbus State University Patrons of Music.
In 1997, she received "The Book of Golden Deeds Award" from the Columbus Exchange Club. In 1999, she was recognized as a Gracious Lady of Georgia.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hunt and her daughter, Linda Kay Kosobucki.
Survivors include her daughter, Geralyn H. Roller (Marty) of Columbus, GA, son, William Lindsey Hunt, III (Barbara) of Columbus, GA, son-in-law, Dan Kosobucki of Columbus, GA, six grandchildren, Kimberly A. Enderle (Frank) of Ravensburg, Germany, Jonathan H. Haralson of Columbus, GA, Dr. Dan Kosobucki (Leigh) of Columbus, GA, Dr. Jill Moore (David) of Columbus, GA, William L. Hunt, IV of Columbus, GA and Robin C. Monteith (Tracy) of Seattle, WA, and eleven great grandchildren.
