Kathleen Robinette Overby 90 of Columbus died Sunday, March 08, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Brandenburg and Rev. Tom Nevilis officiating. A private Entombment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Overby was born November 12, 1922 in Taylor, Al daughter of the late Ewell Melvin and Johnnie Green Martin Robinette. She retired after 40 years as the Executive Secretary with The Gas Light Company of Columbus. She was a Lifetime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, past Georgia President of the National Secretary Association, former secretary for the Columbus Baptist Association and Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the former Secretary-Treasurer of the Ambassadors Club of Retired Gas Light Employees.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Overby was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Otis L. Overby, Sr., two sons; Terry Overby and Otis L. Overby, Jr. and one brother James Rudon Robinette.
Survivors include two sons; Ronnie Overby (Shelbie) and Davis Overby (Becky) both of Columbus, Ga., Six grandchildren; Bruce Overby, Jr., Michael Overby, Susannah Overby, Jay Overby, Jr., Mark Overby and Terry Overby.
