Karen Jordan Kennedy, age 58, died December 1, 2017 in Midtown Medical Center Hospital surrounded by her family.
Karen Leah Jordan was born June 17, 1959 to Milton and Peggy (Clark) Jordan. She dreamed of a career in the medical field but put that dream aside to pursue her greatest joy, the raising of two daughters and a son. On June 29, 2001 she married her sweetheart, Darrel Jack Kennedy, and gained another son and daughter. In 2010, now enjoying her grandchildren, Karen returned to the pursuit of a degree in nursing. Enjoying a remission from her autoimmune disease, she embraced a new lease on life and completed a certification in phlebotomy. This was an exciting and fulfilling time in her life. "Kakee", as her nephews and grandchildren called her, treasured each of the kids' unique personalities. She loved to find gifts that perfectly suited them as individuals.
Karen is survived by her husband, Darrel Jack Kennedy, mother, Peggy Clark Brooks, and sister Janet (Kirby) Dockery. Her five children, Kara (Joe) Bowden, Amy (Ted) Carlson, Kevin (Ashley) Gillis, Kristen (Jeremy) Earn, and Russell (Brianne) Kennedy will raise Karen's nine grandchildren to remember that they were fiercely loved and cherished by their grandmother. Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elizabeth and Hamilton Clark and Wylma and Cecil Jordan. She is also now joyfully reunited in heaven with her father, Milton Leverett Jordan and her brother Milton "Mickey" Leverett Jordan Jr.
