Julian Jesse Sizemore

Dr. Julian J. Sizemore, Jr., 90, a much-loved pediatrician and long-time resident of Columbus, died February 12, 2013, at Columbus Hospice.
Funeral services for Dr. Sizemore will be at 11:00 am Friday, February 15, at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Columbus, with Rev. Tommy Henschel officiating. Burial will follow at the Baptist Cemetery on Hwy. 27, Cataula, GA. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, February 14, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the McMullen Funeral Home.
Dr. Sizemore was born in Barwick, Ga., the son of Rev. Julian J. Sizemore, Sr., and Margaret Wheeler Sizemore. The family soon moved to Perry, Ga., where his father was pastor of The First Baptist Church and then moved to Waverly Hall, Ga. Rev. Sizemore was pastor of both the Waverly Hall Baptist Church and Rehoboth Baptist in Cataula, Ga., for many years until his retirement. Dr. Sizemore grew up in Waverly Hall and attended Waverly Hall elementary and high schools. He was studying at Mercer University when World War II began. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a medic in India and Burma until the war ended. He received his B.S. from Mercer University; his M.A. from Emory University; and his M.D. from The Medical College of Georgia. After interning at Childrenâ
