Judson Floyd Gilmer, 82, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM at New Covenant Baptist Church, 11367 Chipley Highway, Pine Mountain, GA, on Thursday, June 20, 2024 with Reverend Drs. Joel Chapman and Don Wilhite officiating.  A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM at the church, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Lunch for family and friends will be served after.

Jud was born November 17, 1941 in Columbus, GA to the late Jimmy and Myrtle Gilmer and was brother to sisters Eleanor Gilmer and Patsy Wright (both deceased) and brother Rusty Gilmer (wife Linda). Jud survived his wife of 45 years, Edna Brescia Gilmer, and leaves behind four children, Wren Daniels, Jessica Livingston (Scotty), Jeremy Gilmer (Megan) and Julie Hammond (Chris). Known to his 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as “Poppy” he will be greatly missed for his heartfelt hugs, generous nature and fun loving sense of humor. He leaves behind grandchildren Tabetha Getz (Bruce), Seth Daniels, Joshua Daniels (Ashleigh), Luke Daniels, Jamie and Taylor Livingston, Teddy and Ruby Hammond, and James and Jack Gilmer and great grandchildren Edie, Brucie, and Vivien Getz. It was said that Jud never knew a stranger and this was made evident by the abundance of friends that loved him so dearly. He was always quick with a joke, but equally as quick to help a friend in need. He had a great love of golf, horses, woodworking and Auburn football and enjoyed bird hunting and fishing with the friends and family he loved so much.
