Judson Taylor Calfee, Jr. (J.T.), 70, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday,
December 28, 2014 in Columbus. He was born on October 23, 1944 in Birmingham,
Alabama. He grew up in Birmingham and attended Woodlawn High School where he
was active in sports and a member of The Warblers Club. He received his B.S. degree
from the University of Alabama. He began his career in the Beverage Industry at R.C.
Cola in Columbus, GA. He recently retired as Manager of Beverage Technical Services
at Sensient Flavors in Hoffman Estates, IL. His work involved international travel. He
enjoyed sports particularly football and hunting. He was a member of Wynnton United
Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Helen Oden Calfee and Judson Taylor Calfee, Sr. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Gene Harris Calfee; sons, Judson Taylor Calfee, III (Amanda) of Alabama, James Harris Calfee (Katie) of Georgia; grandsons, James Harris Calfee, Jr., John David Calfee, Matthew Daniel Calfee; sisters, Kay Calfee Wideman (Brad), Jane Calfee Lowery (Bob); nephews, Russell David Lowery (Rayna), Robert Taylor Lowery; great-niece, Madison Elizabeth Lowery; and other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Wynnton United
Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia. Dr. Frank Parr and Rev. J.P. Grantham will be
officiating. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made
to Wynnton United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
