Judith Elaine Bush, 69, of Fortson, GA died peacefully Monday, March 12, 2012 at Columbus Hospice House surrounded by loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at North Highland Assembly of God with Reverend Dennis Lacy and Reverend Jay Bailey officiating. Interment will be held 3:00 PM Saturday at Bertha Dozier Memorial Cemetery in Montezuma, GA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Bush was born June 3, 1942 in Newton, New Jersey daughter of the late Fred A. Shay and Hazel Ackerman Heen. She retired as a Registered Nurse and counselor from St. Francis and then later Teen Challenge, dedicating her life to ministering to others in need. She was a member and volunteered at North Highland Assembly of God and had a close affinity with her friends at Solid Rock Assembly of God. She also volunteered at Christian Motorcyclists Association, Teen Challenge, Prison Ministries, and as an election day Poll Worker in Harris County.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene R. Bush.
Survivors include her two daughters, Janelle Ray (Steven W.) of Columbus, GA and Jennifer Slaughter (partner Marica Maddox) of Atlanta, GA, son, Jerry Slaughter (Peggy) of Columbus, GA, sister, Janice Valentine of Hendersonville, N.C., grandchildren, Elena, Cassie, Michael, Ethan and Maddox, and nieces and nephew, Sheila, Christi, and Jason.
