Josephine C. Lowry, 86, of Columbus has passed away Monday, January 30, 2023.
A visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2023 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private burial will be held at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery.
Jo was born and raised in Columbus. She met and married her late husband, Everett Lowry and remained in Columbus after a few military moves.
She graduated from Columbus College with a degree in Computer Science and enjoyed a career as a programmer before retiring. Jo loved learning, doing crossword puzzles and was a voracious reader which she passed on to her children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, along with her husband of 33 years.
Jo was a loving mother to her 7 children, Kathy Gant, Debbie (Danny Ray) Thompson, Rene (Roger) Murrell, Patty (Harry) Crain, Mark (Trish) Lowry, Theresa (Jimmy) Brothers and Donna (Duane) Vogtman. She was an amazing grandmother to 16 grandchildren, Peter, Michael, Jeremy, Carey, Brandy, Sharon, Matt, Tricia, Krista, Michelle, Stephanie, Daniella, Cindy, T.J., Gary and Wade, many great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren.
