Joseph Rhodes, Jr. ,79, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, May 4, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Joseph was born February 2, 1945 in Troy, AL to the late Grace Hamm Foster. He served in the US Army and was a Deputy Sheriff for 15 years in Talbotton, GA. He loved to go fishing, telling military stories, smoking cigarettes and drinking beer while listening to country music. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Curtis (Don) of Ft. Knox, KY, son, Joseph Stuart Rhodes (Lisa) of Buena Vista, GA, brother, James David Smith, of Panama City, FL, Tommy Smith from L.A., Lacy Smith of Columbus, GA, Billy Smith of Columbus, GA, Mike Foster (Rhonda) of Columbus, GA, Henry Smith (Lois) of Columbus, GA, sister, Tricia Ann Greene (Bruce) of FL, grandchildren, Cameron, Hunter, Devin, Hollie, Tyler, and dear friend, Helen Olive.
