Joseph Oscar Pate, Sr.(Joe), 74, of Columbus, GA passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Mark Blaxton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service.
Joe was born August 30, 1948 in Columbus, GA to the late Eugene Pate and Bessie Livingston Pate. He was the owner and operator of Engineering Graphic Services for 12 years before going to work in security for the Muscogee County School District. He attended Hilton Terrace Baptist Church. He loved to spend time with his family, watch the Georgia Bulldogs play football and had a special talent for drawing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed coaching youth league football for the Clubview Bulldogs.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynda Hunt Pate of Columbus, GA, daughter, Vicky Blaxton (Mark) of Columbus, GA, son, Jody Pate (Tracy) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Brittney Peterson (Perry) of Phenix City, AL, Bethany Bechdolt (James) of Columbus, GA, Jacob Pate (Autumn) of Lizella, GA, Amanda Pate of Atlanta, GA, great-grandchild, Priscilla Bechdolt, several nieces, nephews and other family members.
