Jon Jaxon Kilgore, 74, of Columbus, GA died Friday, April 8, 2011 peacefully with his family by his side.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Kilgore was born November 23, 1936 in Staten Island, NY son of the late Sexton Thomas Kilgore and Ruby Harris Kilgore. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Operations Specialist having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Winfred Jeanette Kilgore of Columbus, GA, sons, Macgregor Scott Kilgore (Teresa) of Columbus, GA and Steven Jeffrey Kilgore of Columbus, GA, sisters, Mamie B. Johnson of Marietta, GA and Vera P. Merrill of Acworth, GA, brother-in-law, Jerald D. Hesterlee of Marietta, GA, grandchildren, Laura Jean Kilgore, Kelly Lynn Kilgore, Allen Jernigan and Jonathan Cain Kilgore, and nephew, Thomas Kilgore of Columbus, GA.
