Johnnie Armstrong Hood

Johnnie Armstrong Hood was a loving wife of 55 years, mother and grandmother left this world unexpectedly on May 20, 2022 at the age of 75.

A memorial service will be held 2:00-3:00 PM, Thursday, May 26 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd in Columbus, GA 31907.

She was born in Columbus, GA to John Henry and Verlin Zadie Armstrong on January 17, 1947. She married her husband Allen (Al) Shelby Hood Sr. on July 6, 1967. They resided in Albany, GA until the time of her passing.

Johnnie began her career as a Stylist at the age of 17. She loved her clients like family and excelled in her trade. She became a color expert for AVEDA and owned her own Salon before retiring. She was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan and loved watching the Falcons and the Braves.  In her earlier years, she loved playing softball with her husband Al and coaching their kids in various sports.  She was known as “Nonnie” to her Grandkids who loved her very much.

She is survived by her spouse; Allen (Al) Shelby Hood Sr. of Albany, GA, children; Shelby Hood of Columbus, GA, Leslie and son-in-law Terry Ethridge of Dothan, AL, Preston and daughter-in-law Summer Hood of Fayetteville, GA, grandchildren; Joshua Martin, Dalton Hood, Seth Hood, Katlin Manning, Zander Hood, great-grandson; Christian Martin, sister; Bonnie Ruth and brother-in-law Hale Vanoy, sister-in-law; Harriett Hood Giglio, numerous nieces and nephews.
