John Grant Wilson, 47, of Columbus, Ga. died Wednesday, December, 04, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice at Emory University Midtown.
A Celebration of life service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 09, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James C. Elder, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Grant was born March 02, 1966 in Johnstone, Scotland son of Margaret H. Wilson of Destin, Fl. and the late James S. Wilson. Grant was the former owner of Oak and Pine Manor Nursing Homes and Trillium Village Personal Care Home. He was the current owner of Bradley Park Car Wash and Castro Premium Lube. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, past President and board member of the Boys and Girls of the Chattahoochee Valley, and an active participant in the Muscogee County School Districts Partners in Education representing Double Churches Middle School and Veterans Memorial Middle School.
Grant lived his life large. He always had a sense of fun and spontaneity and a perpetual prankster. He had an incredible presence and brought life to any gathering. He enjoyed good wine and fun times. Grant was confident, strong, and strong willed. He was a giver, not a taker and was willing to help a friend, a school or his community. He supported Northside High School Marching Band and was known as the "Band Dad".
Survivors other than his mother include his wife; Hope H. Wilson, son; Blair Wilson, daughter; Brianna Wilson all of Columbus, Ga., brother; Fraser Wilson (Debbie) of Kelowna, BC., sister ; Sandra McDonald (Ian) of Aiken, SC., nieces; Chelsea and Ainsley Wilson both of Kelowna, BC.
