John Allen Tharpe, 75, of Upatoi, GA died Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Tharpe was born March 15, 1943 in Ozark, AL son of the late John S. Tharpe and Ruby Strickland Koon. He graduated from Central High School in 1961 and became a successful business entrepreneur in which he owned Action Marine in Columbus, GA, 3 auto parts companies in Columbus and also owned Tharpe Properties. He was a member of the National Rifle Association "NRA" and the Woodsmen Club. Mr. Tharpe loved to travel, especially going on cruises. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Maj. Myrad Marleen Tharpe Retire ANC of Upatoi, GA, children, Jamie Marriott of Phenix City, AL, Shana Harp (Mike) and Allen Tharpe all of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, Abbey Boyd (Jesse), Mandy Hutchinson (Paul) all of Phenix City, AL, Charley Woodall of Auburn, AL, Sidney Tharpe, Gage Tharpe and Elizabeth Harp all of Phenix City, AL, great-grandchildren, Brooks Boyd and Hallie Hutchinson both of Phenix City, AL, and many nieces and nephews.
