John E. Storey

John Eugene Storey, 80, also known as "Papa", "Pop", "Daddy" and "PawPaw" of Columbus, GA went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Matthew Henson and Rev. Lee Thompson officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Storey was born April 17, 1939 in LaGrange, GA son of the late Irma Lucille Smith and William Grady Storey. He drove trucks over the road for over 30 years. John was in the U.S. Navy for 4 years as a Boatswains Mate, earning the China Service Medal. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening when he was younger. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Bishop, Claudean Faulk, Earline Fordham and Agnus Metzler, brothers, Bobby Storey and Melton Storey, daughter, Erika Murphy and grandson, Little Todd.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Storey, daughters, Lori Fitzgibbon (Ken), Debbie Donnally (Tim), Carren Jones (Dwight) and Jennifer Henson (Matthew), sons, Anthony Storey (Vickie) and Eli Murphy (Amber), siblings, Vicki Thompson (Lee), Pat Lee and Larry Storey, grandchildren, Adam Franklin (Megan), Michele Gibson (Ryan), Landon Franklin, Nathaniel Franklin, Tara Storey, Andrew Storey, Ryan Fitzgibbon, Hannah Henson, Matthew Henson, Jr., Landon Murphy, Casi Mudd, and Morgan Myers (Seth), and 10 great-grandchildren.
