John J. Russell, 76 of Columbus, GA passed away June 16, 2022.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 20, 2022 in the Chapel at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Brad Evangelista officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Private interment will take place at Parkhill Cemetery 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907.
John was born on January 19, 1946, to the late Jeff and Eunice Russell in Shreveport, LA. John’s career expanded from door-to-door sales to becoming a Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow.
John enjoyed studying the scriptures and mediating on the Word of God. He was an avid singer, who used this talent to share the message of Christ to others in the community. He loved singing at church and local senior care facilities alongside his wife as their joint personal ministry. John had a passion for classic cars, especially the Ford Mustang. He was a lifelong Elvis fan and loved to watch a good western. John’s favorite thing was the love he shared with his family.
John is survived by his wife, Brenda Russell of Columbus, GA, sister, Joyce D. Pollard, daughter, Tammy Russell Maddox of North Carolina, son-in-law, David Maddox of North Carolina, four grandchildren, Bradley, Andrew, Emorie and Jon Maddox all from North Carolina and two brothers-in-law, Robert Prezioso of Texas and William Prezioso of Florida.
