John Votell Rush, 90, of Columbus GA, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Memorial Services with Navy Honors will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James C. "Jimmy" Elder, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Rush was born August 15, 1923 in Chicago Heights, ILL., son of the late Fred Rush and Estelle Votel Rush. Mr. Rush was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, with primary service on a PT Boat in the Solomon Islands. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a major in Chemistry. The majority of his career was spent as a technical sales representative for Firmenich Inc., located in Princeton, NJ with the home office in Geneva, Switzerland.
Survivors include his wife Angie Williams Rush of Columbus, GA; daughter, Kimberly Newberry (Peter) of Sarasota, FL; sons, John Rush Jr. (Ginny) of Cincinnati, OH, Jeffrey M. Rush (Susan), of Jupiter, FL, and Terence Rush of Sarasota, FL; 7 Grandsons, Matthieu Rush (Mary), Justin Rush (Katie), Brett Rush, Daniel Rush, Christopher Rush, Marcus Rush and Aaron Windrem (Melanie); and 1 great-grandson, Thomas Alexander Windrem.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross 7490 Veterans Parkway Columbus, Ga. 31909 or the Salvation Army P.O. Box 9143 Columbus, Ga. 31908 in memory of John V. Rush.
