John H. McKay, 101, of Columbus, GA, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his residence.
Cryptside Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Charles Hays officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. McKay was born February 2, 1917 in Louisville, MS, son of the late Bailey V. McKay and Annie Belle Shinn McKay. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific, and worked from 1952-1982 in Civil Service at Fort Benning. Mr. McKay enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Bonnie Ruth Williams McKay of Columbus, GA; daughter, Patricia McKay of Hoschton, GA; 3 sons, John M. McKay of New Bern, NC, Daniel McKay of Columbus, GA and Charles McKay of Cleveland, GA; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Edgewood Assembly of God, 2020 Morris Road Columbus, GA 31907.
