John Morgan Kilpatrick

John Morgan Kilpatrick, III, age 87 of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Columbus Hospice.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, January 29, 2018 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
The son of Royall T. and Jesse Mabel (Anderson) Kilpatrick, he was born and raised in Marble, NC. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably for more than 20 years. He retired from Fort Benning, GA as a Platoon Sergeant and made a home in Columbus.
John is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with distinction in two tours of duty. He earned numerous commendations, including two Bronze Stars one of which was awarded for bravery leading his unit in a counterattack during the Tet Offensive.
Mr. Kilpatrick is survived by his wife, Sun Ae, four children: Mark, Terri, William, and Barbara Lee. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Matthew, Emily, Megan, Benjamin, and Amy Ward.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Mr. Kilpatrick's memory to Rock Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 5301 Sidney Simons Blvd, Columbus, GA 31904.
