John Charles Huddleston, age 90, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home in Columbus, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Craig Bowers and Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Huddleston was born December 8, 1926 in Brownwood, TX to the late John Huddleston and Beulah Ayler. For over 20-years, he served in the U. S. Army retiring on June 30, 1970 having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and two tours in the Vietnam War. Most notably, Mr. Huddleston served as flight engineer on Easy Money - one of four prototype armed/armored CH-47 Chinooks of the 53rd Aviation Detachment nicknamed the "Guns-A-Go-Go." He took great pride in his service to country and in attending all Guns-A-Go-Go reunions with fellow veterans. After his military career, he went on to work for Sears for 20-years, and Walmart for 5-years.

Mr. Huddleston was an active member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church and the Fishermen's Sunday School Class.

Mr. Huddleston was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce Dean Chambers Huddleston of Columbus, GA, a son, John C. Huddleston II and his wife Nancy of Palmetto, GA, and a daughter, Debra Jean Huddleston and her husband John Baldwin of Yardley, PA.
