MSGT (Ret.) John W. Huckestein Sr., 67, of Columbus, Ga died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice.



Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 26, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will be held at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3:00-5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga 31907.



MSGT (Ret.) Huckestein was born January 21, 1946 in Pittsburg, PA son of the late Charles Joseph Huckestein Sr. and Hazel Mae Boody Huckestein. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and served in the United States Army for 22 years. After retiring, he went on to own Torch Hill and Crystal Valley Auto Repair.



Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Peg Huckestein.



Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Betty P. Huckestein of Columbus, GA, daughters, Christina Marie Bryant (C. Shannon) of Windermere, FL, Jackee Young of Youngstown, MD, Stephanie Renee Wilmoth of Southern Pines, NC, sons, John W. Huckestein Jr. of Columbus, GA, Joshua Wade Huckestein of Columbus, GA, sisters, Marilynn Arnold of Gibsonia, PA, Ruth Hutchins of Silver Springs, MD, Phyliss Broskey of Millville, PA, Elizabeth Huckestein of Austin, TX, Mary Szymik of Mars, PA, and Jean Siwik of Pittsburg, PA, brother, Chuck Huckestein Jr., 19 grandchildren, Erica, Sean, Jason, DeAnna, Blaine, Scotty, Harlan, Carlie, Patricia, David, Amber, Steven, Deaven, Adriana, John III, Brianne, Shelby, Olivia, and Johan and 7 great-grandchildren.



Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society 233 12th Street Suite 710 Columbus, GA 31901.
