John F. Hodges

John R. Hodges, 85 of Columbus, died Saturday, February 23, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Morningside Baptist Church with Pastor T. Thad Smith officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM EST in Randolph Memory Gardens, Roanoke, Al. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hodges was born July 16, 1928 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late James Luther and Lora Marshall Hodges. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War and was an Auburn University Graduate. Mr. Hodges worked in radio and television broadcasting with WRBL and retired as an insurance agent with Franklin Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Morningside Baptist church where he served as an usher and greeter.
Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Runette B. Hodges , and his son, Mark Hodges.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his son, Michael Len Hodges (Michelle) of Forsyth, GA; daughter, Debbie Hodges-Edwards of Canton, GA; five grandchildren, Lora Gay, Ashleigh Melton, Haley Hodges, Abby Hodges and Marcus Edwards, several great grandchildren , nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 6065 Morningside Drive, Columbus, GA 31909.
