John A. Gonzales, Jr., 50, of Fortson, GA, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Atlanta Medical Center.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Father Finbarr Stanton officiating. A graveside family prayer and interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. A Rosary will be said Monday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home with visitation until 8:00 PM.
Mr. Gonzales was born March 31, 1965 in Hutchinson, KS, son of John A. Gonzales, Sr. of Fairburn, GA and Rafaila Sealover of Fortson, GA and stepson of Frank Sealover of Fortson, GA.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gonzales is survived by his wife, Herlinde Gonzales of Columbus, GA as well as his three daughters, Jamie Gonzales of Phenix City, AL, Kerri Rodriguez and her husband Eric of Fairburn, GA and Evie Gonzales of Columbus, GA. His loving siblings Suzette Jernigan and her husband Richard of Fairburn, GA, Todd Gonzales and his wife Melanie of Newnan, GA, Isabel Hill and her husband and John's closest friend Nathan Hill of Fortson, GA. and Anna Gonzales of Fairburn, GA. Mr. Gonzales' grandchildren include Kayla Gonzales, Jayden Smith and Amara Rodriguez as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other close friends and family.
Mr. Gonzales was an avid outdoorsman who played and worked in the outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, racing and of course his famous barbeque. He had a huge heart and firmly believed in helping those less fortunate.
