MSGT (Ret) John Edward Clark, 61, of Hamilton, GA died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw, Friday, November 24, 2017. A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on Saturday, December 02, 2017 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, Columbus, GA with Rev. Howard White and Rev. Lynn Meadows-White officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 01, 2017 from 5-7PM at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, Ga 31907. Mr. Clark was born December 25, 1955 in Syracuse, NY son of LeRoy J. Clark and the late Sheila Van Strander Clark. He retired after 21 dedicated years of service in the U. S. Air Force as a MSGT. After retirement, he joined the team at Boeing, working as a C-17 Propulsion Systems Technical Analysist. Mr. Clark was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He never met a stranger and had the gift of hospitality which he freely offered. Mr. Clark was also a fighter, having won the battle with cancer and being cancer free. His memories will always create a smile on our faces and his wisdom will continue to guide us as we honor his memories. Other than his birth mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Douglas Rockafellow. Survivors include his wife, Michele Rockafellow Clark, Hamilton, GA; two children, Lindsey Michele Clark (Giovanni Ortiz) and John-Kyle Michael Clark all of Hamilton, GA; his dad, LeRoy Clark, Phippsburg, ME; his mother, Janice A. Clark of Rome, NY; two brothers, William Michael Clark (Susan), Tarpon Springs, FL and Chip Clark (Tracey) Rome, NY and one sister, Julie Clark-Matthews (Jim) Stewart, FL; two grandchildren, Adryanna Michele Ortiz and Giovanni Jacob Clark-Ortiz both of Hamilton, GA; mother-in-law, Joyce Elizabeth Rockafellow, Hope Mills, NC; two sisters-in-law, Brenda R. Rockafellow, Raleigh, NC and Cheryl Fowler (Frank), Hartsville, SC; two brothers-in-law, David M. Rockafellow and Scott D. Rockafellow both of Hope Mills, NC; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southeastern Regional Medical Center's team who were so supportive of John and his family; Dr. Daniel Miller and his excellent team for all they did, especially for giving John two more years with his family and friends; and finally the Doctors and nurses at WellStar Kennestone Hospital for their care and support. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in John's memory to the Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 5122 Pierce Chapel Rd, Columbus, GA 31909.
