Joel Michael Lewis

Joel Michael Lewis, 71 of Columbus, GA, died Friday September 15, 2023 at his residence.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Farm House Barn, 469 Farm House Road, Ellerslie, GA 31807. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Joel was born October 13, 1951 to the late Stanley Elwyn Lewis and Martha Hazel Thurmond Lewis. Joel grew up in Columbus, Georgia and graduated from Hardaway High School. After earning a degree at Georgia Tech, he worked as an electrical engineer at Carolina Power and Light (later Duke Energy) from 1973 until 2006. Having trusted Jesus as his Savior and Lord, it was his desire to live a life of faithfulness and obedience to God and His Word. Joel was a devoted son, brother and uncle. Joel’s quick, warm smile will never be forgotten by those who were blessed to know him.  Joel spent his retirement years working in his yard, reading and enjoying his pets.

He is survived by his sister, Ramona Loudermilk (Joey) of Ellerslie, GA, brother, David Lewis of Columbus, GA. nieces and nephews, Matt Loudermilk (Jodi), Justin Loudermilk (Natasha), Jenny Hord (Daniel), Amy Solt (Derek), Joanne Tucker (Dalvin), John Mark Loudermilk (Brianna) and Jackson Loudermilk many great nieces, nephews and other family members.
