Joanne Westbrook, known affectionately by many as "Nanny Jo", passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023 in Columbus, GA, following a fall that led to a stroke.

Born on January 15, 1943, in Canada, Nanny Jo was a beacon of love, care, and warmth in the lives of all who knew her.

Nanny Jo was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent much of her life serving others. Her career began at Big Star in Columbus, GA, where she worked until its closure. Following this, she became the Deli Bakery Manager at the Ft. Benning Commissary, a role she held until retirement. Her dedication to her work and her colleagues was evident in her daily life. Even in retirement, Nanny Jo continued to care for others, offering her services to the elderly until she was no longer able to work.

Nanny Jo's life was enriched by a large and loving family. She is survived by her son, Christopher Krize, her daughter, Debbie Harger, and her son Michael Harger and his wife, Kandy Harger. She was a beloved grandmother to Jason Harger, Heather Harger, Heidi Harger, and Anastasia Westbrook. Her legacy continues in her great-grandchildren Brandon Senior, Carl Harris Jr., D'Jimon Harris, Nausha Dickerson, Imani Harris, and Tayvin Brooks. Each of them will remember Nanny Jo for her unwavering love, her kindness, and her enduring spirit.

In memory of Nanny Jo, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. She was a woman of strength, resilience, and immense kindness. Her spirit, her love, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
