Joanne Elizabeth Pierce Smith, 83, of Columbus, GA died Monday, November 12, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1232 Double Churches Rd. Columbus, GA 31904 with Rev. Tom Neville officiating. Interment will follow to Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the church.
Mrs. Smith was born April 17, 1935 in Colfax, IA daughter of the late Cloris Virgil Pierce and Ailene Taylor Pierce. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 50 years. She loved her family and loved painting.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R. Smith and her sisters Patricia Hill and Sharon Moylan.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Smith of Columbus, GA, sons, Richard A. Smith (Pamela) of Bernardsville, NJ and Michael L. Smith (Caroline) of Midland, GA, sisters, Margaret Pierce and Deanna Gorman (Roger) of Silver City, IA, brothers, Jerald Pierce (Linda), Bill Pierce (Bardahl), Mike Pierce (Patricia) and Tim Pierce (Jennie), 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
