Joanne Alicata Mathews

Joanne Alicata Mathews died peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 75.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. David Kees and Rev. Mickey Adams officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
Joanne was born on January 29, 1940 in Lawrence, MA to Salvatore and Maria Alicata. She graduated in 1957 from Lawrence High School. After graduation she moved south to Georgia where she raised her four children. She worked as an administrative assistance at Muscogee Manor Nursing Home for 27 years until she retired in 2006. Her family remembers her as having a love for family gatherings, dancing, crocheting, and the Hallmark channel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Maria (Serrantino) Alicata, and brother Vincent Alicata.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Larry Mathews of Columbus, GA, sons, Jeff Pritchard (Stacey) of Fortson,GA, and Scotty Pritchard (Christine) of Jacksonville, FL and daughters, Natalie Wright (Tony) and Jennifer Head (Jody) both of Phenix City, AL, sister, Cora Murray of Columbus, GA, brother, Carmelo Alicata and Joanne Gattinello of Colorado Springs, CO, sister-in-law, Roberta Alicata, grandchildren, Ashley Sherman (Avery), Brad Wright (Lennie), Tyler Pritchard, Tanner Pritchard, Madison, Emily and McKenzie Pritchard, Chandler Pritchard, Jeremy Head and Carley Jo Head, and great grandchildren, Tucker Wright and Meagan and Hannah Sherman.
