Joan Jernigan, 73 of Phenix City, AL died Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Burdeshaw officiating. A private interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 613 14th St. Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Jernigan was born January 11, 1939 in Eufaula, AL daughter of the late Page Ludlam and Esther Tidwell Ludlam. She was retired from the Phenix City School Board where she worked at the Phenix City Middle School. She was a very active member of North Phenix Baptist Church. She also loved to do all types of crafts and enjoyed reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. Jernigan and daughter in law, Melinda Sue Jernigan.
Survivors include her sons, Tony Jernigan and Tim Jernigan (Penny) all of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Tonia Jernigan, Tara Jernigan (Tim Bailey), Dray Jernigan and Josh Jernigan; great grandchildren, Dylan Wootten, Izick Jernigan, Waylon Jernigan, Dylan Chancey, April Chancey and Ava Gunter; brothers, DeLoyce Ludlam of Alabama and Ferrell Ludlam of Eufaula, AL; sister, Joyce Inman of Newfield, NY; daughter-in-law, Holly Kennedy of Ozark, AL and several nieces and nephews.
