Joan French Hall

Joan French Hall, of Columbus, passed away on December 28, 2021.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The family will have a private interment following the service according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907

Joan was born on April 12, 1938 in Columbus, Georgia to Charles Ulrich French and Gladys McHargue French. She attended schools in Columbus, graduating from Columbus High School in 1956, and later attended Columbus College. Joan married the love of her life, Bob, in 1958 and took great joy in raising their three children and later spending time with her deeply treasured grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering with several organizations close to her heart, including Carpenters Way Ranch and Wynnton Neighborhood Network, and serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care.

Joan lived her faith and was passionate about sharing her knowledge and heart for The Lord with people of all ages.  She was a devoted member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she loved serving as a youth counselor, bible study leader, adult Sunday School teacher, and especially, as the first grade Sunday School teacher for many years.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Micklebury Hall, III, and her daughter, Cheryl Hall Roether. She is survived by her children Leslie Hall Slaughter (William) and Robert Micklebury Hall, IV; her grandchildren Elizabeth Page Hall, Sarah Elizabeth Slaughter, Rebecca Hall Andrade (Daniel), Mary Hall DeGraffenried Slaughter, Leslie Hope Thigpen, Erin Elizabeth Thigpen, and Robert Weston Hall; her great-granddaughter Elizabeth Veda Andrade; her sister Carolyn French Loe; and her nieces and nephews Julie, Joanie and Charlie Sarkiss, and Patrick and Brian Flynn.
