Jimmy Hugh Harris 68, of Fortson, Ga. died Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Hill Baptist Church 9630 Ga. Hwy 219 with Rev. Jimmy Culpepper officiating. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mr. Harris was born January 08, 1948 in Monroe, Ga. son of the late Perry Hugh and Dovie Thornton Harris. He was the owner of Fire Protection Solutions, Inc. in Columbus, Ga. was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and a member of Mountain Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Harris was a founding member of the Harris County Recreation Board and a Life Member of the NRA. He also loved traveling with his wife and family.
Other than his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Parker Malcom.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Janice Harris of Fortson, Ga., three sons, Jon Harris (Valori) of Grayson, Ga., Dr. Jay Harris (Brittany) of Columbus, Ga., Jody Harris (Lisa) of Fortson, Ga., three sisters Brenda Malcom, Ann Conner (Norman), Wanda Saxton (Marc) all of Monroe Ga. brother and sister-in-law Neal and Gail Gunter of Monroe, Ga. and the pride and joy of his life his 7 grandchildren, Laine, Emma Grace, Davis, Dalton, Anna, Taylor and Beau.
