Jewel “JR” R. Etheridge, 81, of Columbus, GA died Monday, July 11, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 15, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Rick Lipp officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
JR was born March 24, 1941 in Sylacauga, AL to the late James E. Etheridge and Jewel East Etheridge. He served in the Army during Vietnam and drove trucks for Leonard Brother Trucking for 7 years. He loved fishing with his brothers, traveling in his 18 wheeler and he enjoyed planting plants and playing with his dogs.
He is survived by his spouse, Merle Etheridge of Columbus, GA, daughter, Pam Stein of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, SSG Zach Stein (Maria) of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Bryan Stein of Columbus, GA, great-grandaughters, Karlee Milena Stein and Karla Celeste Stein, step-daughter, Sharon Clipsham (Bill) of Cataula, GA, step-grandson, Nathaniel Gregory Youngblood, step- great grandson, Alexander Gregory Youngblood.
