Jewel Frances Cureton Key, 88 of Columbus, GA died, October 20, 2023 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday October 25, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Jewel was born July 31, 1935 in Pioneer Louisiana, West Carroll Parish, to the late Dewey Jones, Sr. and Maryann McMillon Jones. She had a very long career as a nurse having retired from both Doctors Hospital and St. Francis Hospital. She was well recognized by her co-workers, doctors and the families that she provided care for as a loving, caring and compassionate health care provider. She was a devout Christian, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, a great friend, a master seamstress and blessing to all who knew her. She enjoyed attending church, gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, art, writing children's stories and spending time with her family.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Jones, Jr., uncles, Walter, Emmitt, Tollie and G.W. McMillon.
Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer Granberry of Cataula, GA, Donna Kinney of Columbus, GA, son, Joey Cureton of Smith Station, AL, sister, Grace Izor of Franklin, OH, grandchildren, April Tidwell, Sherry Jenkins (Chris), Jessica Kinney, Marissa Granberry (Dylan Sealy), Leighton Granberry, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
