Jessie Eiland Weiss, 80, of Phenix City, AL died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Canterbury Health Facility.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Grant Parker and Rev. Nile Irving officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Weiss was born December 24, 1937 in Covington County, AL daughter of the late William Henry Eiland and Daisy Woodham Eiland. She worked as an Insurance Specialist for 21 years for the Muscogee County School District. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City where she was a nursery worker for 7 years and also attended Grace Church of Nazarene. Mrs. Weiss loved to write stories, draw and adored her animals.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William D. Weiss and her sisters, Margaret Hatcher and Mary Alice Heath
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Rodney Weiss, Sr. of Phenix City, AL, daughters, June D. Ivey (Lester) of Opelika, AL and Mary Helen Jarrell (Steve) of Pittsview, AL, son, Rodney Weiss, Jr. of Columbus, GA, sister, Yvonne Rachel Veasey of Phenix City, AL, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Kindred Hospice 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway Columbus, GA 31904 or to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Rd. M Columbus, GA 31904.
