Jesse D. Woodward Jr. (Mudkat) aged 59, passed away on 10/14/2021 in his home at Cataula, Georgia surrounded by his loving family after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, Lorena, who he shared 26 blessed years of marriage. He is also survived by his mother, Mary F. Woodward, of Columbus, GA.; sister, Yvonne Culpepper (Bill), of Atlanta, GA.; and several nieces & nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Jesse D. Woodward.
He was born in Fort Benning, Georgia on June 13th, 1962 to Jesse Donald Woodward and Mary Florance Woodward. He attended Muscogee County Schools, and later graduated from Columbus Vo-Tech. He was most recently employed at Jordan Electric Company for 18 years as an electrician/project manager.
He attended the United Methodist Church and was a firm believer in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesse had a life-long love for music and was a gifted guitar player. The only thing he loved more than playing was teaching family and friends how to play. He also enjoyed collecting, building and detailing model trains, WW2 memorabilia, and fishing. Because of his love of life and laughter, Jesse will forever be remembered as the person who made being an adult fun.
Jesse’s family would like to extend a special thank you to, Dr. Peter Jiang, Dr. Scott Womble, the John B. Amos Cancer Center, the 7th floor oncology unit of Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital, Wade Jordan, and entire Jordan Electric Company for their love, kindness, and devotion to Jesse and his family during their difficult journey.
Services will be held at McMullen Funeral Home with the viewing on Tuesday, October 19th, from 6pm - 8pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 20th, at 11am, followed by a processional to the graveside at Riverdale Cemetery on Victory Drive. In lieu of flowers, Jesse asks for donations to either the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network @ pancan.org/donate or St. Jude Children’s Hospital @ stjude.org
