Jerry Dwain “Wayne” Russell, Sr., 76, of Hamilton, GA died Monday March 18, 2024.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will have a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wayne was born November 21, 1947, in Phenix City, AL to the late Willard P. Russell and Nettie Virginia Gayton Russell. He served in the United States Army and was the owner and operator of BOO’S Package Store in Columbus. He loved to be in the woods hunting or on the river / lake fishing.

Survivors include his son, Jerry D. Russell, Jr. of Cataula, GA, sisters, Shelby Storey of LaGrange, GA, Reba McCullough of Waverly Hall, GA, Brenda Russell of Columbus, GA, Diane Stewart (Ken) of Cohutta, GA, Wanda Nason of Columbus, GA and Claudia Martin (Wayne) of Cataula, GA, brothers, Geames “Buddy” Russell (Linda) of Chattanooga, TN, Vandy Russell (Patsy) of Phenix City, AL, two grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy King.
