Jerry Riser Williams, 86 of Columbus, GA died Saturday, June 20, 2020 at River Towne Nursing Center, 5131 Warm Springs Road, Columbus, GA. A Private Celebration of Life service for family and close friends will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. A private interment will follow the services. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, social distasting will be recommended for those attending.
Mr. Williams was born September 19, 1933 in Lafayette, AL to the late Mary Knight Williams and Richard Harry Williams. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Lou Oswalt Williams, his twin brother, James F. (Jamie)Williams, and his Aunt, Dolly Mae Finch. After graduating from high school and attending Auburn University, he worked his family's farm for many years. After marrying Lou, he was employed in the Parts Department at Bill Heard Chevrolet and was a bus driver for the Muscogee County School District.He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Columbus.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Ivy (Phil) Harris of Columbus, GA, Vicky Veteto of Cumming, GA, Marie (Mike) Harris of Shalimar, FL, Michael (Sandra) Ellison of Pace, FL, Jimmy (Linda) Oswalt of Phenix City, AL, Ricky Oswalt of Athens, GA, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and River Towne Nursing Center for their compassion and care during his illness.
