Jeannetta Anne "Lynn" Lollar Huey, known to all as Lynn, embarked on her grandest adventure yet, leaving her well-worn Bible and her famous casserole dishes behind on February 17, 2024. She took her final curtain call in Columbus, GA, after a spirited struggle with pneumonia—a battle she fought with the same tenacity she used to wrangle her children for Sunday school.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Lynn was born on August 28, 1942, in Birmingham, AL, to the late William Burns Lollar and Martha Lynn Lollar. She was the kind of woman who could organize a church potluck and have everyone believing it was their holy duty to bring extra dessert. She wielded her steno pad like a sword, keeping pastors and principals in line across Columbus, where she served as a secretary both in the church and at local elementary schools. Her minutes were so precise, you'd swear she had them chiseled on stone tablets.

She didn't just study history at Columbus College; she lived it, by raising for children to continue her legacy.  Lynn's brood includes her ever-patient and loving brother, William Lollar and his wife Mary Ann; her daughter, Donna Lynn Hansen, who inherited her mother's knack for multitasking; her son, Andrew Huey Jr., who definitely got his mom's sense of humor; Elizabeth Anne Granberry, a daughter who can organize anything better than a library card catalog; and Bebe Louise Dodd, the daughter who can tell a Bible story with enough drama to make you think you're at a Broadway show.

Her grandchildren—Rachel Mercado, Chris Huey, Rebekah Huey, Jon Paul Hansen, Justin Hansen, Nick Hansen, Jacob Hansen, and Breanne Granberry—were Lynn's pride and joy. They were the ones she lovingly, and with military precision, herded into pews every Sunday. And let's not forget the nine great-grandchildren, who had the best seats in the house when she held them in her lap for eclectic wheelchair rides (she named her wheelchair Mr. Forbes).

Lynn was a master at raising children and supporting her husband's interests, which, let's face it, usually involved finding new and creative ways to keep him out of her hair while she was making costumes for church and school plays. When she wasn't imparting wisdom or keeping churchgoers in line, she was keeping her husband’s music library organized and sorted.

Her interests were as varied as the books of the Bible. There wasn't a church bake sale that didn't feature her unique snacks, nor a Bible study that didn't benefit from her insights. She was known to often encourage her children to “prayer before you make a decision”.  Her smile was easy and loving, and she loved without condition.

Lynn's legacy is one of laughter, love, and a well-placed hymn or scripture for every occasion. She was a woman who not only knew the Bible but lived it, and her family will continue to walk in the light of her love and the occasional stern, yet loving, glance that could stop misbehavior in its tracks.

Lynn will be missed deeply, yet we know she is smiling and singing in the heavenly choir. Knowing her she will be keeping Heaven's records in order, and probably convincing St. Peter that a little laughter at the pearly gates goes a long way.

Rest in peace, Lynn. Your humor, your love, and your legendary organizational skills will be missed down here, but we take comfort in knowing that Heaven is now the most well-run place in the universe.
