Jeanette was born on May 26, 1931, in Ozark, AL. Jeanette was the cherished daughter of the late Homer Franklin Skinner and Velma Tomlin Skinner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis Elwood McClung, and her godson, Gene Burkett. She was a proud graduate of Baker High School's class of 1949. Jeanette's thirst for knowledge led her to IBM's training office, where she became one of Columbus' pioneering data entry operators. Her career flourished at Swift Textiles Mfg Co. in the Data Processing Department and later at Aflac, where she dedicated seventeen years of service in the Payroll Department before retiring in 1995.
Jeanette's zest for life was evident in her many interests. She loved camping, singing in the choir at her church, and socializing with her cherished friends from "The Gang." Above all, her grandsons were the light of her life, and she embraced every moment spent with them.
She leaves behind a legacy of joy and generosity, survived by her son, Barry Keith McClung; daughter-in-law, Valerie (McClung) Bundrick; grandsons, Curtis Edmund McClung and Drake Elwood McClung; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and two godsons, Keith (Vicky) Paul and Greg (Claire) Paul, of Midland GA. Her godsons' children, Terri Hettinger, Brandi Barlow, Luke, Libby, Zoe, and Rock Paul, also hold fond memories of Jeanette's loving presence.
Jeanette's life was a testament to her loving nature, her generous spirit, and her unforgettable sense of humor. She had the unique ability to light up a room and make everyone feel welcome and valued. Her laughter was contagious, and her kindness knew no bounds.
As we bid farewell to Jeanette Skinner McClung, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest and a heart that touched so many. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to know her. Jeanette's story is not one of sorrow but a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the countless lives she enriched. Her spirit will forever resonate within the hearts of those she loved.
