Jean T. Johnson, 82, of Columbus, GA died peacefully at her home Monday, June 22, 2015.
Funeral Services will be 6:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. The Family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 26, 2015 at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA.
Ms. Johnson was born June 21, 1933 in Pitts, GA, daughter to the late Glenn C. Thornton and Mary W. Cook Thornton. She was a teacher, homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in many civic organizations including garden clubs, officer's wives club and supported local art organizations.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Col. (Ret.) Harold Richard Johnson, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Jaye Ellen Johnson of Monroe, GA, Pamela Larsen, John Mark Johnson (Belinda) all of Columbus, GA, brother, John V. Thornton (Martha) of Milner, GA, grandchildren, Henry Richard Larsen, David Matthew Larsen, Ann Elizabeth Johnson, Ellie Kate Johnson also all of Columbus, GA and many nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted, however, those desiring may make contributions to the John B. Amos Cancer Center.
