If you knew Jean MacElhannon Adams, then you know how spirited she was. She was a wife of 50 years; a mother to three sons; a grandmother to five children; a loyal friend; a volunteer; a Christian and a fighter. Jean, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

Jean loved a trip to the beach, a travel adventure with Jerry, a weekend with her Birthday Club and an afternoon with her Joyful Noise Sunday School class. Volunteering was also something she believed in. She believed in giving back in both time and resources to her church of more than 55 years, Wynnton United Methodist and community organizations like Open Door Community House.

Born June 19, 1951, Jean graduated from Hardaway High School and Augusta College. She was most proud of her family. Preceded in death by her parents Dodie and Rocky MacElhannon and sister Cathy Grant. She is survived by; her high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years Dr. Gerald G. (Jerry) Adams; son Dr. Matthew (Matt) Adams and his wife Amy; son James Adams; son Stephen Adams and his wife Mary; and five grandchildren, Reid, Henry, Elizabeth, Shipley and George; and her brother Skip MacElhannon. As well as nieces, nephews and close friends.

Services for Jean will be held for immediate family at Wynnton United Methodist Church on Saturday January 23 at 2pm. It will be streamed on the Wynnton UMC Facebook page. If desired by friends, gifts in her memory can be made to Wynnton United Methodist Church Operating Fund, Open Door Community House and Feeding the Valley.
