Mr. Jason Maynard, 59, of Columbus, GA died peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from a lingering illness.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Reverend Vernon Prather officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Jason was born October 14, 1951 in Vienna, Austria son of the late Army SFC Jesse Maynard and Phyllis G. Brownell Maynard. He had lived in Columbus most of his life graduating from Kendrick High School. He proudly served his country from August 1971 thru August 1991. After his retirement from the U.S. Army, Jason returned to Columbus to care for his beloved mother. He was the seventh child of eight children. He was a member of Restmere Baptist Church and volunteered at his mother's church, Our Lady of Lourdes.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl E. Maynard and a brother, (Ret.) U.S. Army SFC Roland Maynard.

Survivors include his three brothers, Carl and Lucy Brownell of Ellerslie, GA, Paul and Walburga Brownell of Columbus, GA and Jesse and Sherry Maynard of Olympia, WA, two sisters, Dawn Brownell Crable of Jacksonville, FL and Judy K. and Dave Newton of Willits, CA, five nephews, six nieces, nine great nephews, and eight great nieces all of whom will miss him dearly.
