Janie L. Pruitt 87, of Columbus died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2018 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Robert Spear and Chaplain Mitch Huling officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The following will serve as honorary pallbearers; Franklin Cheek, Roy Cross, Benny Little, Clarence Little, Keith Pruitt, Ryan Pruitt, Matthew Spear, Andy Jones and Zach Jones.

Mrs. Pruitt was born August 27, 1930 in Hawkinsville, Georgia; daughter of the late Benjamin Fred Little and Myrtie Gunnin Little. Mrs. Pruitt was a graduate of Hawkinsville High School in Pulaski County. She worked for Southern Bell, and retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) as well as Telephone Company Pioneers. She also donated a considerable amount of time, after retirement, to the American Red Cross.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Pruitt was predeceased in death by her husband Lamar M. Pruitt, grandson Lamar M. Pruitt III (Trey), brothers, Luke Little, Clyde Little, and Bill Little, and sisters, Cleo Morgan, Corine Causey, Christine Dorminey, Pauline Helms, and Sue Welchel.

Survivors include one daughter, Lana Spear (Robert) of Austin, TX., two sons, Lamar Pruitt, Jr. (Debra) of Columbus, Ga., and Jeff Pruitt (Eva) of Midland, Ga., Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer White (Erik), Keith Pruitt, Matthew Spear (Liliana), Tara Fernandez (Justin) Ryan Pruitt (Ashlee), Karson Pruitt, and step grandchildren Brian Spear (Sandra), Dale Spear, Andy Jones, Katie Dorsa (Chris) and Zach Jones. Mrs. Pruitt also had twelve great grandchildren.

Special thanks to the men and women of Kindred Hospice. Their kindness, understanding and sympathy during this time far exceeded expectations.
