Janice Ann Sillitto died peacefully on February 6, 2023.

A rosary will be prayed at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, with visitation immediately to follow until 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at St. Anne Catholic Church, with a private interment to follow.

Janice was born in Buffalo, New York, to Steven and Filomena (Speranza) Bellomo.  The oldest of three children, she was born a leader, a teacher, a boss. Janice came to Columbus in 1978, happy to be met with southern hospitality and a much warmer climate, while proudly reminding everyone of her Sicilian and Yankee heritage. She was a terrific wife and mother, and was the consummate homemaker, not working outside the home until 1985 at Reese Road Elementary School. There, Janice worked as a paraprofessional for nearly 30 years.  Her students, fellow teachers, friends and even absolute strangers will remember her quick wit, capable voice, and strong intellect. After raising three sons, she was ecstatic to welcome three daughters-in-law into her family. She loved to sew, cook, and read and was a woman of not only great faith and discipline, but also of steadfast and consistent love.

She is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Anna Marie Castellanos. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Frank J. Sillitto, and their three sons, Brian (Jennifer), Christopher (Sheila), and Joseph (Sarah). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Isabel, Sophia, Natalie, Peter, Lucy, Sam, and Nancy, by her nephews and nieces, and by her brother, Stephen Bellomo.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Anne Outreach, 1820 Box Rd. Columbus, GA 31907; Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909; or to the American Cancer Society, donate3.cancer.org, in honor of a life well-lived.  May eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
