Jane Hall Berry, 75, of Columbus, GA, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at her residence after a second battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Born Oleta Jane Hall, on June 25, 1939 in Columbus, GA, she was the second child of Oleta Faust and Thomas Joseph Hall, Sr.. She was a devout Christian Catholic and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church at the time of her death. She was a previous member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she served as church secretary for several years, and also attended Holy Family Catholic Church. She also attended Edgewood Presbyterian Church with husband Bill for some years. Jane was a very active person, and always one who could be ready to GO whenever asked. She loved going on cruises. She took her last cruise, just this past November, at Thanksgiving.
She was a member of the Georgia State Medical Assistance Association having worked as an office manager for several physicians. Jane was an instructor at Columbus Technical College for some years. Never one to stay idle for long, she went to work for the Muscogee County School District serving as a school nurse at Cusseta Road Elementary. There she had what she referred to as "My Children."
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, William "Bill" Thomas Berry.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynn Berry of Columbus, GA; a brother, Thomas Joseph Hall, Jr.; sister, Mary Ann Hall Reece both of Columbus, GA. She leaves six nieces and nephews, to whom she was very close. The family is most grateful to her dear friend and devoted caregiver, Danthea Johnson. Mrs. Berry is a light that has gone from the family.
Numerous friends will mourn her, but the lives she touched will carry her spirit forward forever. The world is a better place for her presence and we are better people for having had the privilege of knowing her.
